West Valley Hospital Foundation Grants Scholarships

The West Valley Hospital Foundation announces that 13 students in medical or medically related fields will be receiving scholarships for the 2008–2009 school year. A total of $13,000 in scholarships was awarded to Polk County residents pursuing degrees in nursing, radiology, and a variety of other medically related programs.
The Foundation is a charitable organization that supports medical and medically related projects at West Valley Hospital. Its 15 member Board of Directors helps raise funds and manage the resources of the foundation.
Recipients for the 2008-2009 school year are:
Dallas: Kathryn Barnes, Christopher Bessler, Melody Burke, Kendra Fresh, Katelyn O’Hearn, Chelsea Wiens and Benjamin Yost
Independence: Sabra Gramelt and Jessica Rodriguez
Rickreall: Meghan Keck
West Salem: Emily Barfknecnt, Chris Bell and Kristin Faber
This is the first year the Foundation has awarded scholarships. “We’re excited to be able to designate unrestricted funds from the West Valley Hospital Foundation to help students further their education, and some day be a part of the health care workforce,” said Sue Lamb, foundation board chairperson.
